The sanctions were linked to a broader deal to curtail Iran's nuclear program.
However, several countries including the United States, the EU and the United Kingdom maintained sanctions and added new ones.
Israel's army chief, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, said on Monday that Iran's attack will not go unanswered.
Iran's first direct attack on Israel on Saturday saw a wave of more than 300 missiles and drones fired from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen, with most of them shot down by Israel and its allies.
tehran said the attack was in retaliation for a suspected Israeli airstrike on its consulate in Syria on April 1, in which 13 people were killed.
